Ways to Donate
SPCS accepts donations in
cash and in kind. For a listing of in
kind needs, please see our enclosed Wish
List.
Monetary donations:
SPCS accepts donations towards its annual
campaign, for Suicide Prevention Foundation, and for two endowments
managed by the Foundation (see below).
Donations can be made by check payable to
Suicide Prevention & Crisis Service of Tompkins County, 124 E. Court
Street, Ithaca, NY 14850.
SPCS accepts donations by Visa and Master
Charge. Kindly print the number,
type of card, and expiration date on your donation form.
SPCS accepts donations of securities. Please contact Richard Driscoll, Director of
Development, at 272-1505, ext. 12.
Endowments:
Suicide
Prevention Foundation: Provides annual and long-term support to
SPCS, as well as manages other endowments on its behalf.
Jack
Lewis Legacy Fund: Created in 2006 to honor the Reverend W.
Jack Lewis (1915-2002), a founder and driving spirit of SPCS, its purpose
is to ensure that SPCS’ Crisisline remains in service, 24 hours a day, 7
days per week, 365 days per year, in perpetuity, to serve those in crisis
in Tompkins County, New York.
Stephen
and Kathleen Garner Fund: Created in 2007 by the Board of
Directors of SPCS as a permanent tribute to Stephen and Kathleen Garner,
interest earned on the Stephen &
Kathleen Garner Fund will be available for use at the discretion of
the current executive director of SPCS and her successors.
Additional
gifts to any of the Funds can be made by designating the particular Fund on
your check payable to Suicide Prevention & Crisis Service. For further
information, please contact Richard Driscoll, Director of Development, at 272-1505,
ext. 12.
Gifts to Honor Loved Ones: SPCS is
pleased to accept gifts made in honor or memory of loved ones. Kindly indicate the name of the loved one and
whether the gift is in memory or honor of him/her.

accepts donations of appreciated securities.

For donors 70 ˝ years of age and older: Through
December 2007, the federal Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows taxpayers,
aged 70 ˝ and older, to donate up to a
total of $100,000 annually from their individual retirement accounts tax free
to not-for-profit organizations, including SPCS. Although donors do not receive
a tax deduction for the gift, the money is excluded from taxable income when
computing taxes. Please contact your
financial advisor to determine if you can support SPCS in this manner.
